Itinerary

Day 1
JHB – Makushu Mosholombi Village
Departing from JOHANNESBURG at 08h00, our journey leads us on some of the most scenic roads into the northern part of South Africa.

Upon arrival at the Village in the latish afternoon, the experience begins with a warm welcome from the chief or community elders. This traditional greeting sets the tone for the entire visit and demonstrates the community's hospitality and openness to sharing their way of life.

Instead of staying in conventional hotels, visitors are hosted in homestays, where they live with local families. This allows for a more intimate and personal experience, as guests become part of the family for the duration of their stay.

Visitors are encouraged to participate in traditional and local activities. This could include joining in on traditional dances, learning how to cook local dishes, engaging in traditional craft-making, or partaking in religious or cultural ceremonies.

The experience involves interacting with community members and learning about their daily lives, challenges, and aspirations. Visitors may have the opportunity to chat with locals, share stories, and gain insights into the community's history and traditions.

Immersing oneself in the local culture helps visitors develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the customs and way of life of the community. This first-hand experience can be transformative and eye-opening, fostering cross-cultural connections.

Day 2
MAKUSHU VILLAGE AND VILLAGE LIFE
Our first morning waking up in the village, you are welcomed with a warm bath/shower to prepare for the day’s activities.

Today we will take you on the village route which is basically a tour of the village where you will have the opportunity to visit all the NGOs, and interesting village sites, meet the community, visit the local shops, and more.

Although we have a plan for the day, village life is very different from what we know and expect from city life. Here we go with the flow and take the time to immerse ourselves in what is happening around us. There is no rush, no one is checking the time and no one will be angry if you are 10 minutes late.

The activities for the day will include the following:
- Traditional Floor making
- Traditional Cooking
- Traditional Beading
- Traditional Dancing
- Traditional Beer tasting
- Beautiful mountain walk (for those that want to get an early start)
- Immersing yourself in the village
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be prepared by a different Homestay Mama each time for you to experience different meals but also for each of the community members to benefit from your stay in the village. Here the motto is “Sharing is Caring”

Day 3
MAKUSHU VILLAGE TO KUGER NATIONAL PARK
After another night in the village, we wake up with the sun and roosters calling as the day is starting.

After enjoying yet another great breakfast from a different Homestay Mama ‟ we slowly start making our way to the Kruger National Park where we will be staying for the next two nights in one/or more of the parks rest camps.

Upon arrival at the Kruger’s entry gate, we will quickly take care of the paperwork and entry forms before heading on our safari on route to our accommodation for the night.

The Kruger National Park is the flagship of South Africa’s national parks and rated as the ultimate safari experience. It is considered to give you an almost indescribable wildlife experience. Certainly, it ranks as one of the best in Africa.

Dinner tonight will be at the restaurant.

Day 4
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
Today we get up early as we want to explore the Kruger National Park as soon as we can, for our full day of game viewing. This section of the park offers the opportunity to see some different species of animals like cheetahs, Wild Dogs, Herds of Buffalo, and elephants as well as other predators like lions and Hyenas because this area usually has a bit more water, naturally attracting more animals. Our day is dedicated to driving around in search of these animals, however, we will stop regularly at some of the parks’ rest camps for some leg stretches and comfort breaks as well as some waterholes on the route. Late in the afternoon, we return to our camp in the park for the night.

Day 5
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK AND RETURN TO JOHANNESBURG
As we wake up once again with the sounds of the surrounding bushveld, we pack our things and head out on yet another morning game drive within the Kruger National Park. We drive around in search of all the species that inhabit the area before slowly exiting the park and making our way back to Johannesburg. The tour will officially come to an end in the late afternoon upon arrival at the Lodge/airport.
